So in order to keep working on trip projects like my mini and some layouts I needed to print a bunch of my instagram photos. I don't know about anyone else, but this always seemed like a hassel to me so I never printed them before. I know there are alot of apps and places online you can print them at but I need them now, I don't know about you but I like to print at home cause I don't like to wait for them!
Well I needed to change that. I love these photos and I needed them for projects so I am going to share with you my way to print instagrams. (I know I am not the first person to probably think of this so no this is not my origional idea, its just the way I do it.)
Click on the photos to see them larger if you need to!
Download or save the instagrams you intend to use to your computer somwhere you want them. For this project we will be working with 6 instagrams at a time. (I for the sake of time am only using one instagram and repeating it 6 times.)
Open your first instagram into your photo editing software. I'm sure alot of you have photoshop I unfortunately do not at this time, So I use paint.net which a free program with 100's of added things you can download to load to it similar to the brushes for photoshop. If you are in the need of an editing software I would say get this one, I have used it for a long time and all my blog design work is done on it! Ok back to the tutorial. Opening your instagram in Paint.net should look like this.
Once you have your image open in paint go to the top tool bar and click on IMAGE, this opens a drag down menu where you will click on RESIZE. When the resize box opens you will go down to the portion that says print size. You need to change both the height and width box to say 1.75. Instagrams are square as you know and we need ours to be just under 2 inches.
Your photo should now look like this. If this is what yours looks like you now want to save it somewhere on your computer where you can find it again easily. Then repeat steps 1-4 with the rest of the instagrams you intend to use until you have 6 of them saved.
Now we need to start with a fresh page in paint.net. You can either close it once you saved your instagram or you can simply go to the tool bar and hit new which is under the file tab.
We open our new page and we again need to resize just as we did with the instagrams. This time you need your width to be 6 inches and height to be 4. you make the adjustments in the same spot you did with the instagrams, it should look like this.
And once you've done that your screen should look like this.
Now that we have the box we are going to work with we need to insert all the instagrams. Now once you get the hang of this you can try it different ways, maybe vertical which will give you strips of instagrams kinda like photo booth strips but today we are just going to do it this way for sake of time.
To start adding in instagrams go to the toolbar and click on LAYERS. This opens a drop down menu and you want to click on IMPORT FROM FILE. That pulls up all your files and you can then browse till you find the instagrams you want to use. Click on the one you want to start with.
Once you click on the instagram you want your page should look like this.
Now what we need to do is drag the photo to the correct placement. We need it to be centered between 2 inches on the top and sides measurements. You can see what I mean in this photo. On the top its highlighted in blue where its aligned and on the side also.
Now we need to add our second instagram. So repeat steps 6-8 again.
Continue on repeating those steps till you have six instagrams in there.
Now that you have all 6 instagrams all we need to do is flatten the photo so all layers come together as one. In the top tool bar click on WINDOWS and then click on LAYERS. This brings up your layer tool box. Now in the middle is a flatten symbol I've outlined in red here.
You need to click that button until it shows all the layers together as one. Or only one layer in that in that box. So 5 or 6 times. Once you are done with that, your finished. The only thing left to do is click save and then print.
You can print them at home them or order them online like this just as you would any other photo!
I hope this has helped you as it has me and if you have any questions feel free to email me or leave me a comment here!
