working on some challenges again

It's been a long long time since I entered into any scrapbook challenges. But these two were so cute I thought it would be a good way to get myself back into it.
But, before I get to that let me share a non challenge layout I completed while watching all the election stuff. I finally cracked open some of my new Dear lizzy line 5th and frolic. Gorgeous!!

These photos were taking at a little wayside rest stop in Colorado. Must be rough to have such amazing scenery around you all the time! I bet some of them take it for granted. I would be so happy to wake up to this every morning outside my window!
All pp, borders, journal spot and stickers are from dear lizzy 5th and frolic. Wood veneers and the spray are from studio calico. Thickers are american crafts and the feather stamp is from the original Amy Tan line. The small alphas are october afternoon from the midway line and the washi tape is KI memories.

Now onto the challenges. The first Challenge came from the studio calico sunday sketch on their blog. You can find that here. They made a sketch based off of a recent Amy Tan layout and it rocks! This is what the sketch looks like. (To see the original layout follow the link to the studio calico blog above.)

And here's my take on it. I flipped it to the other side of the page.

This was our last photo opp in Arches National Park because the sun was setting quickly. I really loved this cool valley and the way the rocks formed along the sides of it.
Yellow and pink pp are from 5th and frolic, green and hexagon pp are from everyday eclectic from echo park. Mist is from studio calico. Stickers and alphas are also from everyday eclectic. Other embellishment are misc from my stash.

The second challenge I did was a color challenges from the two peas blog. You can find it here and here. This is the color inspiration we had to use.

Here's what I created for it, red and all....(I know alot of you know I strongly dislike red, so this was a challenge for me.)

A very endearing to me shot of the 3 of us in arches. I had to beg the boys sometimes to take photos with me. They don't get my need to document...
Orange butterfly pp is from studio calico heyday line, Pink pp is from 5th and frolic, and the green is from crate paper. Washi tape is my minds eye. Red alphas and label stickers are October afternoon midway line. Green alphas are thickers. Bling is my minds eye and the stamp is from studio calico also.

I think overall I am having a very good scrappy week, getting lots of done and loving every second of it!
Happy Thursday Loves!
